Oisin Quigley is a guitarist and composer from Kilkenny, currently based in Galway, where he studies Music and German at the University. Born into a family of musicians, he spent his youth attending the various All-Ireland Pipe Band championships that his family organised. At the age of twelve he began playing guitar and over the years he has accumulated a deep knowledge of the instrument; having both studied classical guitar under the tutelage of Alec O’Leary, the director of the Guitar Festival of Ireland, and luthiery under the instruction of Declan Young. Since starting his degree, he has composed in a variety of styles and genres, ranging from traditional Irish tunes, to musique concrete, to Serialist pieces for quartet and in 2021 The ConTempo Quartet gave the first performance of his piece “A Wake”.
