Rohan Harron is a Dublin-based violinist and composer from Huddersfield, UK. He is a second year BMus student at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, studying violin under Sarah Sew and composition under Kevin O’Connell. Having performed in prestigious venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Ulster Hall and Bridgewater Hall, Rohan has also performed in numerous masterclasses as a soloist with Katherine Hunka, Jack Liebeck and other renowned players, and with members of the Navarra and Signum quartets as a chamber musician. He has performed in numerous festivals including West Cork Fringe Festival and Feis Ceoil and also has a wide range of orchestral experience, including playing with the Ulster Orchestra, Ulster Youth Orchestra and RIAM Philharmonia. Rohan is passionate about contemporary music, and in particular performing works by under-represented composers, and is thrilled to be working with Hard Rain Soloist Ensemble as one of their Featured Young Artists for their 2022/23 season. As a composer, Rohan has previously written for the Ligeti Quartet and his music was performed in New Music Dublin 2022 as part of National Concert Hall’s Creative Lab scheme, where he studied with Emma O’Halloran. Currently he is working with Sing Ireland to write a piece for the Irish Youth Training Choir, that will be premiered by the choir in their upcoming Summer concerts.
