On November’s Friday 13th, Irish Composers Collective seized the grandest Georgian mansion on Merrion Square for an evening of interdisciplinary sound installations and premiere performances of new Irish compositional work.

Opening the evening, seven composers occupied every room of No. 45 Merrion Square, the Irish Architectural Archive, with installations of music, film, dance, spoken word and visuals. Following this, we raised a glass to superstition with a wine and food reception before the final act.

Kirkos Ensemble, made up of Ireland’s finest emerging professional musicians, closed the night with premiere performances of eight new works by ICC members.

What Alice Found There is a fantastical and escapist 5-part song cycle, composed by Siobhra Quinlan for soprano, cello, violin and glockenspiel.

This unique exhibition explores the power of music to create multiple interpretations for the visual image through vignettes of film.

Pieces by Conor Buckley, Éna Brennan, Jake Morgan, Matthew Whiteside, Shell Dooley and Stephen Kavanagh.

An installation of sound, spoken word, sculpture and movement by Maria Minguella.

SILK is an installation resulting from a collaborative process that combines sound, sculpture, spoken word and movement. Three women artists from different disciplines (music, sculpture and theatre) came together to explore ideas of landscape, memory, transience, and temporality. The resulting installation is inspired by the fluidity, the strength and the softness of silk.

An audio/video installation and performance of 'water reflector' by composer Breifne Holohan and video artist Vivienne Byrne. The work is based on the Boyne River in Drogheda. Byrne creates an abstract portrayal of the river while Holohan improvises to the changes in the landscape.

Exploring and forming relationships between sound and movement, both with the aid of technology and through more traditional means.
