about the performer // 

Originally from Monaghan, harpist Clare McCague has a First Class Honours Degree in Performance from DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama where she studied concert harp with Denise Kelly. She is a multi prize winner at Dublin’s Feis Ceoil and recipient of scholarships from the Royal Irish Academy of Music and the DIT Conservatory. Clare is currently in demand as a solo, chamber and orchestral harpist. She has a keen interest in contemporary harp music and has performed a number of new compositions for the instrument in recent years. 
In 2014 Clare received a prestigious scholarship from the Irish Research Council for her research into 19th century harp music in Ireland. She is currently studying for a Doctorate in Music under the supervision of Dr. Cliona Doris at the DIT Conservatory and hopes to complete her research in 2017. 
Clare is also a qualified pharmacist and holds a degree in Pharmacy from Trinity College Dublin.
