Hugh Martin Boyle comes from County Donegal and now lives in Craigavon, County Armagh. 

At present, he is completing a PhD in composition at Queens University Belfast, under the supervision of Professor Piers Hellawell; having previously studied at the University of Ulster with David Morris and Frank Lyons gaining a MMus (2007) and a BMus (2006). Awards include the West Cork Chamber Music Composition Competition for 2009 (piano trio section), the Feis Ceoil IMRO Award (2008) and the IMRO/Mostly Modern Young Irish Composers' Competition (2006) and his music has been performed by, amongst others, Anne-Marie O’Farrell, Concorde, the ConTempo String Quartet and the Lawson Trio.
