As a choral conductor Nathan has worked with a wide number of choirs across Ireland, ranging from primary schools right up to “OAP” choirs. Nathan has received lessons and masterclass from Dr Shaun Ryan (University of Ulster), David Stevens (Belfast Cathedral), Ian Keatley (Christchurch Cathedral), David Brophy (RTE) and Dr Katalin Kiss (Kodaly Institute). Nathan remains a busy choral conductor and currently works as Teacher of Music in Alexandra College as well as Choral Conductor for the Chamber Choir and Musical Director of the TY Musical each year. Nathan is also Musical Director for the Dun Laoighre Music and Drama Society for their forthcoming production of Anything Goes in the Pavilion Theatre. He is also Musical Director for the Nas Na Ri Singers, an 80 strong SATB choir based in Naas. Nathan was recently appointed as the inaugural Musical Director for the brand new Brickfield Singers choir based in Sandymount. Nathan is in high demand as a choral conductor and facilitator, and regularly runs workshops for young choral conductors and organists, especially in the more rural areas of Ireland. In the area of composition, Nathan writes mainly for choirs with occasional forays into the organ and chamber music area. Nathan has written numerous arrangements of well-known tunes for SATB choirs, as well as original compositions including Mass settings and Glorias. His most recent work has been collaborating with Kildare based poet and playwright Paul Sheehan setting a number of his poems to music. Nathan was elected as a Member of the Irish Composer’s Collective in 2019.
