Kevin Free is a Dublin-born composer and percussionist based in Athlone. He has recently completed his undergrad in Music at the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama, with composition tutor Gráinne Mulvey, and percussion teacher Noel Eccles. He has had his music workshopped by Paul Roe, the Fidelio Trio, Dermot Dunne and Malachy Robinson, has taken part of the Irish Composition Summer School. In 2013 he won the Walter Beckett Cup for original song for voice and piano with his setting of the G.M. Hopkins poem “I wake and feel the fell of dark”.
